I found a sort of neat site today, and thought I'd blog about it a bit, see what everyone else thought. Or, at least, let everyone else know about it.
The site is called What To Rent. Pick a user ID, answer 20 questions the first time you go to the site (try not to guess what metric is being evaluated, of course), and then whenever you return, say how much like other movies you like you want tonight's movie to be, and which end of the Popcorn Muncher Flick/Deep Introspective Art Film scale you want, and it tries to pick a movie for you.
Obviously, since current mood is a parameter, this is really aimed more at the "renting movies from a store" crowd than Netflix, but it still could be used to stock a queue. I've had it recommend three movies, and I've seen and liked one, added another to my queue just a few days ago, and have off-and-on thought about adding the other to the queue.
Anyway... just a neat little something. Since the site doesn't collect an email address or anything, privacy worries are fairly minimal, too.
